Our commitment
theChatStage is committed to making its Service accessible to people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA, the European standard EN 301 549 v3.2.1, the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as applied to web services, Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and Israeli Standard IS 5568 based on WCAG 2.0 AA.
Conformance status
Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Non-accessible content โ the content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- Live audio messages (chat voice notes, debate audio) do not yet have automatic captions or transcripts. WCAG 1.2.2 / 1.2.4 not met. Mitigation in progress: automated transcription integration planned.
- Hebrew and right-to-left (RTL) interface not yet available. IS 5568 users can currently access the Service only in English. RTL support is on the roadmap.
- Some dynamic status announcements (e.g. filter results updating on Browse) rely on visual change alone without an explicit screen-reader announcement. Planned fix.
Measures taken
- Semantic HTML landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer). - A visible "skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
- Full keyboard navigation, with visible focus indicators.
- ARIA labels on icon-only controls and navigation regions.
- Text contrast ratios tuned for AA compliance on primary surfaces.
- Responsive layouts that reflow at 200% zoom and on small screens.
- Alt text and text alternatives on meaningful images.
- Form fields paired with explicit labels and inline validation messages.
Known limitations
Some real-time experiences (live debate rooms, chat sessions) are inherently fast-moving. We provide text transcripts of messages and keyboard shortcuts where possible, but live audio messages may not yet have automatic captions. We are actively improving this.
